Hmm... what to say? Well, I was born in Edinburgh on 18 October 1981, which means I'm now 24. I'm now working at Picsel Technologies on the outskirts of Glasgow.
So... what did I get up to uni? Well, I joined SciffySoc (Edinburgh University Science Fiction and Fantasy Society) - don't ask me why the URL says sesoc in it. This usually involves meeting at the Pleasance every Thursday and chatting about sci-fi/other things, and then going to Teviot and playing pool or something. In 2nd and 3rd year, I was the webmaster for the society. Then laserquesting or bowling every 2nd Saturday (the alternate Saturdays are video nights usually) And I became a spod on TOTH (and also now EH), where I met quite a few people who live/work in Edinburgh. And I worked sometimes as well.
Some computing stuff now ;) I started programming in BASIC on a BBC B when I was about four, but only started doing some neat programs when I was about eight - I wrote a Monster game (which I memorised and re-typed every Friday because I couldn't save onto the network), and also a Breakout clone - my brother wrote it for RISC OS, so I ported it back to the BBC. I also wrote a nice screen editor for it which looked just like the screenshots of Fireball II on RISC OS in The Micro User. My brother borrowed an Arthur machine over the summer holidays, and he developed SuperMon and ACK on that, and I put together a rubbish little game which involved collecting the diamonds without the monster killing you.
In 1991, my brother bought his A5000. Of course, the terrible thing was that my game ran too fast, and at that time I had no idea what to do to fix it properly. Since then, I've written loads of programs (some of which have seen the light of day, and some haven't) - including NetWorks, which allowed people to chat to each other over Econet, but later renamed to NetDoesntWorks because if there were more than two people, some of the machines got mixed up. More recently, I've written my Mode7->9 program to save out MODE7 screens, and my starry screensaver, and Nettle, my telnet client.
My other interests include badminton, snooker/pool, swimming, science fiction, watching TV, ten pin bowling, listening to pop music, playing on my PlayStation, and going to the cinema an insane amount. (I suspect there's not many people out there who go to the cinema more than 100 times a year :) ). Started going to a pub quiz with my friends most Thursdays now, so far we've won it once, but it's good fun regardless :) One of these days I'll order something other than the cheeseburger, but it is very tasty...
I'm now living in my own place in Renfrew on my own (aww), but is really handy for work, and reasonable for getting into Glasgow (bus stop's about 2 minutes walk away, and there's usually buses every 20 minutes or so or better during the day). And today I discovered the Domino's in Paisley will deliver here too! Yay!
Well, that about wraps it up really.
